California Chapter 1
Chapter 1 Interest Points in Discussions with the District By Laws Changes
January 15, 2007
The District was established to be the legislative advocacy organization for the four Chapters in California. Lobbying and other advocacy efforts are performed by a paid lobbyist and by the Executive Director of the District. The District also organizes the Las Vegas annual meeting to provide CME and generate income for the District. Other projects have been developed to provide information and advocacy for the entire District.
Income has come from grants, CME and dues assessment from each Chapter. Officers in our Chapter will participate to review revised District By Laws and examine the make up and workings of the District. There is a goal to have the revision completed by July 2007 yet the Chapter Board does not want to artificially limit the time to get the By Law’s documents correct.
Issues that will be addressed will review the officers and their responsibilities. The make up the the District Executive Committee and Board will be outlined with greater clarity. The financial responsibility of our Chapter and its members to the District must protect our members. Chapter 1 has been successfully administered and its budgets have provided security to the workings of Chapter 1. Concerns about District liabilities cannot undermine the stability of our Chapter. Every effort to provide the Chapter with protection for its membership and organization will be made.
